Gianforte Votes to Increase Military Pay
Today Congressman Greg Gianforte voted to increase military pay, military readiness, and increase America’s ability to confront aggression and national security threats.
The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2019 passed the House 351-66. The new bill authorizes $717 billion in military spending, that's an increase of $83 billion from last year’s level.
“America’s men and women in uniform keep us safe in a dangerous world and protect our way of life. Today, I voted to provide them with a well-deserved pay raise and with the necessary equipment, training, and resources they need to get the job done and come home,” Gianforte said. “Today we continued the process of rebuilding and strengthening our military and reaffirmed our commitment to our troops and their families.”
The bill provides servicemembers with a 2.6 percent pay raise – the largest military pay raise in the past 9 years. The bill also increases the size of our armed forces, replaces aging military equipment, begins to restore our land and sea defenses, and makes crucial investments in our missile systems.
