Honeymoon Always recently came out with a list of America's Top Alternative Romantic Destinations for 2023, and one small Montana town ranked surprisingly high. Before we reveal which tiny Montana town is the best in the state for an alternative romantic destination, let's look at the data that went into determining the list.

Actually, there wasn't a whole lot of scientific data behind the list, the publication simply went and asked 3000 couples which romantic destination they would like to visit this year. So, what's the top Montana destination for romance in 2023?

Fort Benton, Montana.

This historic little town has a population of right around 1500 or so but has a long Montana history. Located in Chouteau Country, Fort Benton is believed to be one of the longest-occupied settlements in the state.

Known as "The World's Innermost Port", the little town was extremely important in the steamboat era as supplies would be delivered from cities like Kansas City, St. Louis, and as far south as New Orleans.

The town is also home to the Fort Benton Historic District with several well-preserved buildings. So whether you plan a nice walk along the Missouri River or a delicious dinner and a stay at their historic hotel, maybe a trip to Fort Benton should be in your future.
