Former All-Pro wide receiver Terrell Owens held a public workout in Calabasas, Calif. Tuesday afternoon, but not a single representative of an NFL team attended the event, ESPN reports.

The public drills were an attempt by Owens and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to show teams that the six-time Pro Bowl receiver is ready to play in the NFL this season.

Owens, who had 72 receptions for 983 yards and nine touchdowns with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the off-season. Since having surgery in April to repair the damage, the 37-year-old Owens has not landed with an NFL team.

Just because they weren’t there doesn’t mean they weren’t interested,” Rosenhaus told ESPN Radio. “I can guarantee that all 32 teams were interested.”

The agent said that he had not gotten confirmations from any NFL teams prior to the workout, so he anticipated they would not be in attendance. Still, he and Owens pressed on with the practice in an effort to “create interest. We were trying to create a buzz.”

Football pundits are already speculating that Owens could wind-up in Tennessee, New England, or reunited with former Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer, who was traded to the Oakland Raiders last week.
