Perfect Predictions? Experts Look At Summer Forecast For Montana.
Although technically not yet summer, for most Montanans Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial kick-off, and we've certainly begun to see an increase of folks from other places coming to the state to enjoy their time during summer break.
Of course, here in Big Sky Country, summer can mean hazy skies with the thick smell of smoke surrounding you everywhere you go. Or, it can be sunny and hot with temperatures coming close to triple digits. Oh, and don't forget it's not totally uncommon to see a snowflake or two fall during the summer months.
So what are the "weather experts" saying about summer in Montana for 2023?
First, we should probably define what a weather expert is.
I grew up around farm people, so we had all kinds of little ways to determine what the weather was going to be like. The color of a wooly worm, a fork, or a spoon inside a persimmon seed. For many, they rely on the Farmer's Almanac. In fact, many folks swear by it. The Farmer's Almanac has been around for a whole lot of years and is still trusted today. So, what do the weather gurus over at the Almanac have to say?
It seems that for western Montana the month of June looks like it's going to be a wet one. Although they do predict sun and warmer temperatures for the middle of the month, then it's back to rain and cooler temps until we get to July. However, July looks like it could be sunny and hot for most of the month.
Alright, so that's one "expert", but let's see what actual weather folks have to see. What are those versed in science saying about summer weather here in Montana? To be honest, it looks like they're saying the same thing the folks over at the Famer's Almanac are saying. A wet June, followed by a hot July.
While I would much rather have a sunny and mild summer, I really just hope for a safe one for everyone here in Montana whether you live here or you're visiting. Either or, get out and enjoy our beautiful state and make memories that last a lifetime.
