Here in Montana, we have some top-notch folks.  In fact, the state is filled with wonderful people that are willing to help any chance they get.  Then on the other end, we've got some folks that are just plain awful.

The truth is most of these people live on the internet and aren't part of our daily lives. They use social media platforms to attack others or spew their hateful thoughts about anything and everything. In fact, Montana ranks in the Top 10 in the nation when it comes to online bullying among teenagers.

Here's the really sad news, it's not just kids doing it, the adults are also participating.

For whatever reason, people seem to think that they can say whatever they want to others no matter how rude or hateful those comments might be.  It happens all the time. In fact, a popular page on Facebook is "The Real Ask Bozeman".  The idea of the page is to ask questions about this or that pertaining to Bozeman.

Many times the questions come from folks that aren't in Montana but are thinking about either relocating or visiting the area. Well, I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. While many people try to be helpful in their comments, several others use the opportunity to be downright ugly often resulting in the popular phrase "go back where you came from."

Heck, I even saw a post the other day where a woman blamed Californians for the fact that so many people drove Subarus "because real Montanans drive Chevy or Ford."

Now, I fully acknowledge that many of these folks very well could be transplants that have brought their bad attitudes with them. In fact, I've heard countless stories from longtime residents about how the Montana they once knew and loved is no longer around.

That being said, I've also heard a whole lot of complaining from people that have lived here their whole lives and simply don't want any change...at all.

So what is the purpose of this?  What are they hoping to accomplish? That folks won't come here?  That all of the people that have moved here in the last 20 years will move back?  That all of the businesses that have opened across the state to provide services to folks will shut down?

Now before you fire up your fingers to tell me how wrong I am or to go back to where I came from, let me say this.  I completely understand the frustration of having people move here and try to change things while making the housing market almost impossible for the average Montanan.

Regarding the housing situation, shouldn't the Montanans participating in that process take part of the blame as well?  I mean, if your partner cheated on your with someone else, would you blame the other person and not your partner?  Wouldn't they both be to blame? So while people continue to come here and jack up the housing prices, shouldn't those that are selling for those prices be added to the frustration?

That seems logical, right? Either way, I look forward to reading all the hateful comments from folks telling me how dumb I am and to go back to where I came from.
