New Colorado Wildfire Prompts Evacuations of Homes
DENVER (AP) — A new wildfire in the foothills southwest of Denver is forcing the evacuation of dozens of homes.
The fire burning near Pine on Wednesday afternoon is small, but it's a concern because it's producing large flames and headed toward a ridge.
Jefferson County sheriff's spokeswoman Jacki Kelley says residents in a 3-mile radius have been told to leave immediately.
Hot and windy conditions in much of Colorado are making it easy for new fires to start and spread.
Firefighters face the same conditions as they work to contain a wildfire near Colorado Springs that destroyed more than 500 homes.
