It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Bozeman, but for those of you who are struggling to get into the spirit of the season, I have the perfect place for you to check out.

As you travel around the area this holiday season taking in all the lights and decorations, you will certainly want to stop in and spend a little time at one long-time Bozeman business.

I'm quick to admit that I'm a sucker for Christmas decorations, so when we drove by the Lewis and Clark Motel located at 824 West Main here in Bozeman and read their sign for their Nutcracker display, we had to stop.

As we walked into the lobby where we were greeted by Lisa Sebana, the owner and General Manager of the motel. Lisa invited us to help ourselves to complementary beverages and treats and explained a little bit about the history of the display.

Lisa's father, William "Bill" Sebena, built the Lewis and Clark Motels in Three Forks and Bozeman, with the Bozeman location opening in 1976. The Nutcracker collection is a labor of love and has grown over the years. In order to get the display ready for all to enjoy, it takes over 60 hours of setup, and then an additional 60-plus hours to put them away in storage.

It's a self-guided tour that includes a brochure that explains in great detail the different displays.

This year's display has a total of 598 Nutcrackers, several of which have been donated to the motel throughout the years. There are 22 different stations or displays, starting with the Nutcracker that started it all; Cedric. During the tour, you will find Nutcrackers that represent countries from all over the world, as well as different themes and colors.

It certainly doesn't take long to realize that this is truly a labor of love and one that will take you back to days gone by. For those of you that are looking for that nostalgic feel of a good "old fashioned" Christmas, you will certainly want to spend a little time taking in all of the fun and whimsy of this incredible collection.

While the display is no doubt impressive in the daylight, once the sun sets and all the lights come on, you will be transported away into a holiday wonderland that you will not soon forget.

The tour is free and as mentioned, there are complementary beverages and treats along the way. The display will be up through the holiday season, so make sure to add it to your list of holiday stops this year.
