One candidate to be the next mayor of Missoula is biding adieu, and now, there’s only two: namely, incumbent John Engen and challenger Lisa Triepke. Madison Shchroeder announced that she would be stepping out of the race on Monday, August 14, which was the last day for municipal candidates to withdraw.

"Regarding my withdraw from the race: moving forward I'll be supporting Lisa Triepke," Schroeder said. "I feel at this time in Missoula's history it is really important that we make a change in leadership and I feel that Lisa is the candidate that can make that happen right now, so that's why I'm supporting her."

Schroeder says she met face-to-face with Triepke and found they saw things nearly eye-to-eye.

"In getting to know her and then just observing how she behaved publicly and what her stances were on certain issues, it just became more and more apparent," Schroeder said. "We are so like-minded on so many things, it just made sense for us to join forces and share experiences. I just think Lisa is going to be an awesome mayor and I'm really looking forward to it."

Schroeder also said she’s not necessarily finished with politics, and that she may be up to bat for another position in the future.
