Man’s Sky-High $55,000 Appendectomy Bill Sparks Outrage About Medical Costs [PHOTOS, VIDEO]

Nic Gonzalez, 20, of Sacramento, recently posted on Reddit a $55,000 bill he received from a hospital for an appendectomy he had back in October.

Gonzalez was still under his father's insurance, so he owes slightly more than $11,000 which he points out "is still a ton at this time in my life.”

Gonzalez added, "I wasn’t looking for pity or anything. I was just looking to enlighten, to inform people of the situation."

The photo has clearly touched a nerve -- it elicited more than 10,000 comments.
