Man Killed While Fleeing Attempted Traffic Stop in Montana
HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a man who died after his vehicle crashed while fleeing from an attempted traffic stop.
Lewis and Clark County Coroner Bryan Backeberg says 46-year-old Tracey Johnston, of Great Falls, died at the scene of the crash early Wednesday morning.
Cascade County sheriff's deputies say the man intentionally backed into a police vehicle and sped away. He then threw objects at a deputy's vehicle during the pursuit and at one point stopped and again attempted to ram the deputy's vehicle.
The pursuit continued into neighboring Lewis and Clark County, where Johnston lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
The Montana Crime Lab in Missoula will release a toxicology report.
