LISTEN – U.S. Department of Justice on Advocacy Group ‘Dirty Dozen’ List

The National Center for Sexual Exploitation will be releasing their annual 'Dirty Dozen' list on Wednesday, February 25, and there is one very high profile name you'll recognize, the U.S. Department of Justice.

Spokeswoman Haley Halverson said her organization is dedicated to opposing pornography by highlighting the links to sex trafficking, violence against women, child abuse, and addiction.

"This list names the top 12 mainstream contributors to sexual exploitation," Halverson said. "This last year, we had 15 policies that were changed at places like Google, Walmart, and we got both Hilton Hotels and Hyatt Hotels to no longer sell pornography through their on-demand services. There is one organization on this list that we have already announced, and that is the Department of Justice."

"The reason why the DOJ is on there is because they refuse to enforce existing federal obscenity laws," she said. "These laws say it is actually illegal to distribute hard core adult pornography on the internet, in hotels and motels, in most retail stores and through the mail. However, the Department of Justice has not enforced these laws for seven years, now. so, they are definitely a top offender, and they will be at the top of our list."
