Mike Merino, the CEO of Helena, Montana's own Olympus Arms says this has been his best SHOT Show yet...and that's coming from a guy who had one of his guns voted as "Best in Show" at a previous SHOT Show.

I ran into him just after we wrapped up our LIVE coverage from the floor of the world's biggest gun and outdoor gear show in Vegas last week. That's when he told me I needed to come down to his booth and see the latest on the grenade launcher he has been developing.

Here's a video as he describes it for us:

Merino (Video Transcript): "This is our PGS solution. We call it the squad support rifle system. So if you can imagine fire support at the squad level, it does everything that the m4 m249 cannot do. So think M 203, or m320. Think shotgun, and also think some carbine capability. So I'll give an example. The standard round that you would carry in your magazine would be a close quarters battle round. We're talking single lot buck, three times as much shot as you would see in a 12 gauge shot shell. That's your close quarters battle rounds. You're clearing rooms, you're responding to ambushes, and you're bringing down drones within 35 meters. As you get past that, you're using rounds that look like this. This is a kinetic drone defeat round. You can see those blades that deploy. This is a kinetic round that's going to defeat drones at zero to 150 meters. What makes that possible is this optic right here. This is a smart shooter smash 2000. It locks onto your target and it will not let you squeeze the trigger until you're going to hit the target. If you use it, you can just squeeze the trigger normally if that's what you want to do. But if you use it to engage and lock on the target, it will only let you fire when you're going to hit. I want to show you this here real quick. So this is a target that my young engineer shot at 200 meters for 2000 grain projectiles, 12345. that's 200 meters. We've hit E types consistently at 500 meters, also with this system. So very, very serious. It is technically a carbine, but it's a 30 millimeter carbine."
