We got a call from Trump Force One into our Montana radio show and it sounded like they were having one heck of a party on board.

US Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) is an enrolled member of the Cherokee nation, a rancher, businessman, and former MMA fighter. Mullin called in to our statewide radio show, Montana Talks with Aaron Flint, to talk about his and President Trump's support for Navy SEAL veteran Tim Sheehy.

He had RFK, Jr. sitting next to him...he had President Trump sitting next to him...and it sounded like everybody was having a great ole time in the background.

Senator Mullin: Tim Sheehy and President Trump are building a heck of a relationship. And President Trump just loves Sheehy, but just just yesterday- we did three town hall meetings. We started in Palm Beach, we flew to New Mexico, then to Las Vegas, and then stopped in Phoenix. We got the hotel a little after midnight last night, and started this morning at 530 and...in between, he (Trump) did 12 telephone town hall meetings across the country. Just- he never stops working. It's just amazing."

Mullin says that Jon Tester basically says one thing in Montana, and then does another back in Washington, D.C. with Chuck Schumer.

Since Senator Mullin is the first Tribal citizen to serve in the U.S. Senate in nearly two decades, I wanted to get his take on what a President Trump and a GOP controlled Senate means for Indian Country:

Senator Mullin: "I never knew I was special for being Cherokee until I went to Washington, DC, because where I'm from- I've always been raised in Indian Country. So everybody's Indian or wants to be. And there's a misunderstanding of what self determination and sovereignty means within the tribes. And President Trump and I yesterday had long conversation about understanding that and understanding the economic challenges that face it and in the treaty what does the sovereignty mean and how does self determination move the economy forward if we actually use it...I'm excited about what's going to happen to Indian Country if President Trump gets in. And it's not going to be deep lip service like we have from politicians for years upon years inside Indian Country."
