For some reason, Californians get most of the blame when it comes to Montana's growing population. Longtime residents don't want their beloved state to change, and there's a fear that people from California are going to ruin everything they love about Montana.

The state of California is one of the most liberal in America, and Montana, which is mostly conservative, couldn't be any more different. California is full of huge cities, and also boasts the largest population of homeless people in the country. In cities like San Francisco, there are apps that keep track of all of the  public areas that people have used to relieve themselves. Compared to life in Montana, living in California seems like it would be a nightmare.

It's no surprise why so many people that live in California want to leave. It many cities, crime rates and illegal drug use have skyrocketed, and there isn't much being done to stop it. In addition to that, California is extremely overpopulated and getting stuck for hours in traffic has become the norm.

It's understandable that people get upset about new people moving to Montana, but it's not acceptable to be disrespectful. Saying things like "Go back to California" isn't going to stop people from moving here. Montanans have a reputation for being kind and generous, and some of the things we've seen on social media don't reflect that. On top of that, the population of Montana mostly consists of transplants, and the state and local communities rely on tourism as one of the leading economic drivers.

When you treat people badly and insult them online or in person, you may think you look cool, but you don't. You actually make yourself look like a fool. Treat people with respect, and think about how you would want to be treated if you just moved to a place that was new to you. We're all in the same boat, and we all want the same thing. A safe place where we can live a quality life and raise our family.
