The situation is still under investigation, according to new information, it appears that one of the students brought a handgun to school and threatened another student with it.

On the afternoon of May 8, school authorities learned of a possible firearm in Gallatin High School (GHS). Bozeman’s School Resource Officers (SROs) and school administrators acted immediately to search for the firearm and interview the involved parties. A firearm was not immediately located in the school.
