Bobcat Nation Deserves Better: Just One Game Picked for ESPN2
Montana State football fans are feeling a little slighted this week after the national TV schedule for the 2025 season was released, and the news isn’t exactly what we were hoping for. Despite years of powerhouse performances, playoff runs, and a stadium packed with some of the most loyal fans in college football, the Bobcats are only getting one game on ESPN2 this fall.
Meanwhile, our friends (and we use that term loosely) down the road in Missoula will see two of their games broadcast on ESPN2. That's right—two. The Griz, who MSU has handled more than once in recent years, are somehow getting twice the national spotlight.
Now, don’t get me wrong. Any national exposure is good for Montana State football, and we’ll take every camera we can get. But only one ESPN2 game for a program that hosted College GameDay in 2022? Let’s not forget that when ESPN had to choose between Bozeman and Missoula for their big show, they decided on Bozeman. That’s not just a win for MSU, it’s a statement.

Bobcat Stadium was electric that day, filled with freezing fans who showed the nation what Montana State football is all about. Now, just a couple of years later, it feels like we're being quietly moved to the back of the line.

I get it. TV schedules are complicated. Networks consider factors such as market size, rivalry potential, and scheduling conflicts. If any program in the FCS has earned national eyeballs, it’s Montana State. The Cats have consistently performed at a high level, sent players to the NFL, and packed Bobcat Stadium week after week.
So yeah, I'm bummed. Disappointed. A little fired up.
One ESPN2 Game? Montana State Bobcats Deserve Better National Coverage
This team, this town, and this fan base deserve more than just a single ESPN2 appearance, and if the national media won't give us the attention we’ve earned, you can bet Bobcat Nation will keep showing up, louder and prouder than ever. Whether there are TV cameras or not.
The Bobcats kick off their season on the road against the Oregon Ducks on August 30. On November 15, the Cats will take on UC Davis at home. That game will be televised on ESPN2.
