In 2024, Tyler Childers, P!NK, and Pearl Jam performed sold-out shows in the stadium. Big concerts bring substantial revenue to Montana and boost the local economy. However, if you’ve ever wondered why Bobcat Stadium in Bozeman doesn’t host more concerts, there’s a simple explanation.

Why Isn’t Bobcat Stadium Used More for Concerts?

College football is a big deal in Montana, and the historic rivalry between the Bobcats and Grizzlies is one of the oldest in the country.

We spoke with a representative from Montana State University, who explained that the Bobcat football team relies on Bobcat Stadium for practice due to the absence of an indoor practice facility. Over the past five years, only two concerts have been held there for this very reason.

Luckily, a new indoor practice facility on campus at Montana State University will make Bobcat Stadium available for large concerts. The facility is named the Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center.

The 112,000-square-foot facility will provide access to year-round training for all MSU student-athletes, improve safety and streamline the continuity of operations for MSU's athletic programs.

You can learn more about the new practice facility on the Montana State website.

The facility will be located south of Bobcat Stadium, near the Bobcat track and field complex along South 11th Avenue. The building will provide a state-of-the-art environment for student-athletes. Construction is expected to be completed by Spring 2025.

This new facility could allow Bozeman to host more high-profile concerts, bringing in major artists and boosting the local entertainment scene. With an indoor practice facility in place, Bobcat Stadium may finally become a go-to destination for big musical events in Montana.
