It's been a mild winter for Montana. The state's snowfall is usually pretty high and frigid, but it's been balmy and light on snow. That has caused several problems for many of Montana's ski resorts and areas.
The lack of snow has been so brutal that several Montana ski areas didn't open until late January, and one had to close for the season. Many of Montana's ski areas are hurting financially and are trying to find ways to break even after this terrible winter season.
We might have a wild idea that could work.
When you go to a ski area or resort, you will use a season or day pass to access the lifts or trams. If you are an avid skier, season passes are usually the way to go. Season passes cost a lot more, but it's worth the price if you are an avid skier or snowboarder.
What if you could buy a lifetime pass? A ski area in Northern Washington is trying that out.
The Loup Loup Ski Bowl has started to sell lifetime passes. Why? They have had a horrible winter season like Montana and thought this would be a way to recoup their losses this year.
The lifetime pass is good for your entire life, and if you plan on hitting the hills until you die, it might be worth it. How much does a lifetime pass cost? They are charging $6,000.
Does that seem steep?
Yeah, but that is the price of five-season passes at some Montana ski hills. Could you imagine buying a lifetime pass for Bridger Bowl or Whitefish Mountain Resort for $6K?
That's a crazy good deal if you are a local and love shredding powder.
