This Big Electronic Store Chain Could Shut Down Montana Locations
This national franchise is hurting financially and plans to close multiple stores soon. Could Montana be involved?
We have seen multiple big box stores close recently in Bozeman. Bed, Bath & Beyond, Gap, Office Depot, and others have shut down their locations in Bozeman and Montana due to several issues.
Issues have ranged from bankruptcy to a downgrade in quality products and sometimes poor locations.
Another massive retailer announced during an earnings call that due to poor financials, they will have to shut down a dozen locations by 2025, and Montana could see the effects.
USA Today reports that electronic giant Best Buy will close several stores in 2024 and 2025. The company will close 24 stores in 2024, and in 2025, they will close between 10 to 15 stores.
Why? The customer experience has gone downhill. Customers are not inclined to come in to buy electronics if they can find products online for cheaper prices. Most folks feel like you pay a premium or overpay at Best Buy.
What's their plan? Best Buy will test out a few new ideas to see if that helps, but they will still have to close a few stores to see if that helps.
Montana has three Best Buy locations in Kalispell, Missoula, and Billings. Will any of those stores close?
Unless they are struggling financially, they should be safe. Montana's Best Buy stores have the upside they are far away from each other, don't compete directly, and don't have competitors nearby.
Best Buy is one of the few places you can ask any questions about electronics so you can understand what you are buying or can afford.
We hope they don't close their locations in Montana.
