Montana’s Best Town For Winter Is A Winner

After a wonderfully long fall, it seems that winter has come to Montana.

Now, don't get me wrong, I enjoy winter. I enjoy the snow-covered mountains and trees, I enjoy seeing all of the holiday displays that light up during the season, and I enjoy all of the activities that come with winter as well.

But let's be honest, winter can be 6 months here in Montana, and after about 3 to 4 months, most of us are ready for Spring.

Winter tourism, however, is a big deal.

People spend thousands and thousands of dollars to travel to these winter wonderland locations, where they stay at high-dollar resorts with private ski lifts. They dine on Chef-created meals, hang out in their expensive gear, and sit around the Lodge talking about things that most of us can't relate to. (We're looking at you, Big Sky)

Which Montana town is the best for winter?

Folks who travel here are looking for an experience. Whether it's something on the luxury side or a little more rustic, they want to be able to do something in Montana that they can't do where they're currently living.

A travel website, Ireland Prestige Tours, decided to go over some statistics and determine which American cities are the best for winter vacations. Now, keep in mind, this just isn't opinion. They actually take in several factors to decide which cities and towns are the best.

Here's a spoiler: only one Montana town made the list.

• Local attractions
• Hotels
• Winter activities

And the final determinations? For those who are looking for the ultimate winter getaway, you will want to travel to Winthrop, Washington. Other towns making the list are:

• Leavenworth, Washington
• Deadwood, South Dakota
• Telluride, Colorado
• Wallace, Idaho
• Jackson, Wyoming

There were several other locations as well, but only one Montana town made the list. So, which town and where on the list are we talking?

Was it Big Sky? Whitefish? Red Lodge? Missoula? No, no, no, and no. According to the data, the town for the best winter experience in Montana is the town of Bozeman. Out of the 51 towns that made the list, Bozeman is ranked 30th.

It makes sense to me. We have the airport, easy access to skiing, plenty of lodging, and we're close to National Forests and Yellowstone National Park. Plus, the dining and bar scene in Bozeman is legit.
