It's a question that is constantly brought up and the answer usually varies but there are really only a handful of people, in my opinion, that I feel required to tip.

I have worked in the service industry most of my life, so I feel like I have a trusted opinion when it comes to tipping. We may disagree on the amount to tip, but it all comes down to at least leaving something. Preferably in cash. Did you know, lot's of workers don't get their credit card tips until they get their paycheck? So if you are able to leave cash for the tip, they definitely appreciate it.

In my opinion, here are the top 4 workers you MUST tip.

Restaurant servers/Bartenders

If you are grabbing a bite to eat, and someone is literally bringing you drinks, bringing you food, checking up on you, and clearing your finished plates, you tip them. They are making a lesser wage and rely on tips to survive. Do not skimp on the servers tip because food took too long. The server doesn't have control of the kitchen, and unless they forgot to put your order in, they should not be financially punished.

Bellman/Valet/Housekeeping

You are trusting these people with your luggage, your cars, your room full of personal belongings and they will make sure that you have everything your need. So when you ask for extra towels, soap, a microwave, and to have your room cleaned after your kids have destroyed it, they deserve a tip.

If the bellman has carried your 7 oversized bags to your room and then drove the curtesy shuttle to bring you and your buddies to the bar AND pick you up, then show them some appreciation...with money.

Casino Attendants/Floor Runners

At most places the drinks are complimentary or you get the first one on the house and the next ones are half off. Either way, those drinks didn't walk themselves from the cooler over to you. Someone brought you that drink, they checked on you, they asked if you needed anything, they threw away that empty, etc. They took care of you, so when you are cashing out that ticket for $100, $500, or $5000, remember who took care of you the entire time you were there "drinking for free".

Car Wash Attendants

When you are leaving the car wash and there are people (often times high school kids) drying your car by hand so that you don't have any water spots, don't forget to throw them a few bucks. Who wants to stand next to loud equipment all day and hand dry 200 vehicles a day? Not really me...but I do appreciate them and I show them with at least a $5 dollar bill.

You may or may not agree with this list, but I will say if you ask any of these workers listed above, they will say the same thing. THEY SURVIVE ON TIPS.
