When you think of Montana, what do you think of?
Do you think of ranchers, farmers, cowboys, and cowgirls? Or do you think of fancy coffee-drinking folks who drive German cars and shop at overpriced stores to buy "athleisure" wear they don't use to work out in?

While most of Montana is a little more rugged than cosmopolitan, there are a few areas where the "fancy" Is a little more prominent than in the rest of the state. (We're looking at you, Bozeman, Missoula, Whitefish, and Big Sky)
However, that doesn't mean we don't have our fair share of "country folk".
Growing up in the south, there were several different types of characters you would come across. One of the biggest was the "Redneck". Now, what does it mean to be a redneck? I decided to ask Google, and this is what they shot back at me:
"A working-class, uneducated, white individual from the South or Appalachian region, often perceived as having conservative, reactionary, or racist views. While thought to be a derogatory term, some individuals may use it as a term of pride. "
Is Montana a redneck state?
The social media site USA By Color decided to spend the time to go through each state to determine if it was "redneck" or not and the results are shocking.
States like Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennesse, Kentucky, Alabama, and Mississippi aren't considered redneck at all. While other states like Georgia, Florida, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico are.
So what about Montana? Did Montana make the list of redneck states?
The answer to that question is, yes, we did. I'm not saying that you wont find some "good ole boys" here in Montana, but I certainly wouldn't consider it to be a redneck state. If you believe the generalizations that come with the term, it should be mentioned that Montanans rank near the top of states with the highest IQs.
Montana is filled with hardworking folk who know how to survive when times get tough. They have skills in hunting, camping, and living off the land. Although, I wouldn't call those people redneck, I'd call them well prepared.
