Montana’s Top 5 Most Friendly Marijuana Towns

It's no secret that many Montanans enjoy the benefits of the "hippie lettuce."

While recreational marijuana is legal in several parts of the state, there is no doubt that it is a big money maker. In fact, if you look at the breakdown for 2024, it is as follows:

• Total Sales = 336 million dollars
• Total State Tax Revenue = 59.7 million dollars

Now, there are different taxes placed on the sale of cannabis. For instance, those who have a medical card will only pay a 4 percent tax. Those who don't have a medical card and just enjoy the sweet ganja will pay a 20 percent tax. Obviously, the state makes more money from recreational users. And while it should be noted, although it is legal in parts of Montana, it is still illegal on the Federal level.

I must confess, while I have partaken, it's been decades ago. However, I believe that you do whatever floats your boat as long as you leave me alone. If you're into the Mary Jane, that's cool, it's just not my thing.

How popular is marijuana in Montana?

It's popular. In fact, there are over 400 marijuana dispensaries across Big Sky Country. Oh, and in case you were wondering, certain towns enjoy the herb more than others. For instance, I live in Bozeman. I'm guessing that on an average day, I probably drive by 5 to 6 places that sell recreational marijuana a day. However, Bozeman doesn't take the top spot.

According to US Uncovered, the Top 5 Most Puff Puff Friendly Towns in Montana are as follows:

• Kalispell, Montana - 5th place is Kalispell.
• Helena, Montana - 4th place is Helena
• Billings, Montana - 3rd place is Billings
• Bozeman, Montana - 2nd place is Bozeman

I mean, is there really any doubt which Montana town is the most Puff Puff Friendly? If you've spent anytime time in the state, or the town itself, you know that they love the reefer over in Missoula.

Yes, Missoula takes 1st place, and I don't think anyone is shocked to learn that.
