If you're new to Montana, it shouldn't take too long to figure out that Montanans have some pretty strong opinions and some of those opinions are regarding both the city of Bozeman and the state of California.

Bozeman is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country and for many Montanans, has the feel of a resort town. A quick drive through downtown will reveal that many of the businesses cater to those of a more affluent lifestyle, heck, we even have a Whole Foods here, the first one in the state by the way.

Then there is California.

More and more folks are leaving California and making their way to Montana and for a lot of locals, that's not good news. There seems to be the feeling that those leaving The Golden State and coming here are trying to force their "West Coast ways" on our state and communities.

Which one do Montanans dislike the most? Bozeman or California?

Many Montanans will tell you they're the same. Californians moving to Montana isn't anything new, but it seems that in the last several years, more folks have left the 3rd biggest state in the country and settled in the 4th biggest state. Of course, it seems that a large portion of those folks have chosen Bozeman as the place to relocate to.

I'm sure you've heard the term "Boz Angeles" or the slogan "Make Bozeman Montana Again". While it's true that more than a few Bozeman residents would like to see the city go back in time, it seems that the majority of the Bozeman haters don't live in Bozeman, but on the outskirts of the city, or in other parts of the state.

The reason for the hate? Well, for many it's simply that those folks seem to be bringing their issues with them. High home prices, big box stores, and less traditional values

The truth is, that growing pains can be hard for some folks and understandably so. As Bozeman and Montana continue to grow, the area will continue to lose some of that old charm, however, Montana isn't the only place this is happening.

In fact, according to one moving website, Montana doesn't even make the Top 10 for states that are seeing the biggest invasion of Californians.

Move Buddha released data showing the states Californians are moving to the most. According to their research, Texas is the number one spot on the list followed by Florida, New York, Washington, and Arizona.

So, no matter how you feel about Bozeman or California, just remember, it could be worse...we could be Texas.
