House Fire in Alberton Shuts Down School
An early morning house fire in Alberton was caught by strong winds and spread up a mountainside near the Alberton School, causing the superintendent to shut down the school for the day.
Public Information Officer for Frenchtown Fire, Mel Holtz, said the structure was fully involved when crews arrived and the wind had swept the fire up a mountainside behind the home.
Holtz said the school is closed, as well as Railroad Street, due to a number of hoses that are on the road. He said no one was injured in the fire.
