After months of exploring the possibility of running for the Montana governor's seat, Greg Gianforte is making it official.

A source close to Gianforte confirmed this morning that he will be announcing his run for governor today.

Gianforte announced his campaign on his website this morning, just before an announcement was made in Billings.

"I've spent my whole career growing businesses and creating jobs. My plan for Montana: Create opportunities for high wage jobs, cut government regulations, ensure our kids learn the skills for today's economy, and make state government work better for you. That's why I'm running for governor. To bring business experience to Helena," reads a statement posted to his website.

Gianforte, who founded RightNow Technologies in Bozeman and later sold the company to Oracle, has been stumping across the state for months during his "exploratory" phase.

Over the next couple days, he'll be making appearances across the state to announce his bid for governor. His first stop is at 9 a.m. today in Billings.
