The Reynolds Creek Fire currently burning on the east side of Glacier National Park has expanded to over 2,000 acres in just two days.

Public Information Officer Katie Liming said the Going-To-The-Sun-Road is currently closed to through traffic.

"The road is currently closed between the St. Mary entrance on the east side to Big Bend on the west side," Liming said. "The duration of the road closure is unknown. The fire is moving quickly with extreme spread potential. We've requested an Interagency Incident Command Team and they will be arriving this afternon."

Liming said there have been some closures due to the fire.

"The Rising Sun Campground and Motor Inn, as well as the St. Mary Campground have been evacuated and are currently closed," she said.

Liming said no one has been injured and no structures have been damaged within the park.

There is a Red Flag warning for extreme fire danger currently in effect for all of northwest Montana.
