This Thursday, Feb. 28, Missoula area representative Champ Edmunds will officially announce his entrance into the race for Max Baucus' U.S. Senate seat.

The press announcement will take place at Missoula's Bitterroot Motors at 12:30, during which Edmunds will "discuss the goals he hopes to accomplished if elected to the US Senate." It is unclear as of yet whether the event will be open to the public.

The announcement makes Edmunds the second candidate so far this month to announce his intention to run. Corey Stapleton did so during the second week of February.

Edumunds has already begun gathering donations through an early version of his campaign website.

On the official press release, Edmunds describes himself as a "10-year Navy veteran and University of Montana graduate who is currently serving his second term in the Montana House of Representatives where he sits on the House Appropriations committee."

Edmunds currently represents HD 100 on the west side of Missoula county, to view his associated bills at the Montana legislature, go here.
