Bozeman’s Plan for Winter Snow Removal and Parking, Explained

Wintertime in Bozeman is here again, and that means making plans for the holidays, vacations, ski trips, and time spent with loved ones. But with changes in the weather come snow, and if you've spent a few years in Bozeman, you know what a snowstorm can mean for your commute.

The City of Bozeman has announced its plans for maintaining city streets this winter. Once again, we'll all have to deal with slick roads, snowplows, and narrower side streets, but with enough effort on our parts, we'll make getting around safely even easier this year!

Here's what Bozeman residents need to know to avoid getting ticketed, towed, or risking damage to your parked vehicles over the winter months:

• City streets are not suitable storage areas for trailers, vehicles, boats, RVs, campers, or vans! Look for long-term, off-street storage solutions for vehicles not in steady use throughout the winter months.
• Park off-street as much as possible.
• Move your car often to help snowplows. Don't get buried!
• Shovel your sidewalk after every storm or snowfall. It's the responsibility of each homeowner and business owner to clear their sidewalks in a timely fashion.
• Residential sidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours of snowfall. Commercial sidewalks must be cleared by 9 AM daily.
• Vehicles parked on city streets should be moved at least once every 72 hours to allow snowplows to properly clear the streets. Vehicles that remain parked for over 72 hours may be ticketed or towed.
