Bozeman Group Wants To Benefit Locals When It Comes To Housing.
I received a text the other day from a random number and thought, "What's this all about?"
Turns out it was from the local group Bozeman Tenants United. If you aren't familiar with the group, they're on a mission, and it's a mission that a whole lot of locals would like to see happen, especially those of us that are renting either homes or apartments.
It's no secret that living in Bozeman is expensive as the average apartment rent price is between 1800 and 2400 per month, more often than not renting a home can be double that. Bozeman United Tenants has a plan that could make a difference in a whole lot of renters' wallets.
The group has a couple of requests for the Bozeman City Commissioners according to KBZK.
First, Bozeman United Tenants would like the city to ban type 2 and type 3 rentals, which basically means that owners that are partially or not present at the property wouldn't be able to rent out their properties.
Second, the group would like to see a ban on those folks that are living elsewhere, but have a 2nd home here in Bozeman and are using it as an Airbnb rental. In fact, according to the text that I received from the group, there are 500 different properties here in Bozeman that are being used as Airbnb rentals.
The Commissioners said that they would need more information before deciding to take any sort of action on the matter.
