Bonner Man Dies After Falling Off Roof in Florence

An unidentified Bonner man has died from injuries received after falling off a roof in Florence.

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman said on Thursday afternoon, April 10, that the man was an employee of a western Montana roofing or construction company when the accident occurred.

"A Bonner man, 51, who was part of a roofing crew fell approximately nine feet off a roof where he was clearing shingles," Hoffman said. "He was severely injured in the fall and was transported to a Missoula hospital where late this morning he succumbed to his injuries. His name is being withheld at this time, pending notification of next of kin."

Hoffman could not reveal the name of the company the man was working for, though he did say a complete investigation into the workplace related death is already underway.

"Obviously, there will be a coroner's investigation," Hoffman said. "Ravalli County deputies responded to the scene as it was an accidental injury."
