The Big Sky Conference released its final All-Conference Selections on Tuesday afternoon.
Eastern Washington's Cooper Kupp won the Offensive Player of the Year award, while Southern Utah's James Cowder took the Defensive Player of the Year Honor.
There was some surprise that Montana's Tyrone Holmes, the nation's leader in quarterback sacks and tackles for loss, was not named defensive player of the year.
Montana Sports Information's Eric Taber said Holmes did make the All-Conference first team, along with three other Grizzlies.
"Other Griz players on the first team include wide receiver Jamaal Jones who is right on the cusp of becoming the second leading receiver all time for the Griz," Taber said,. "Caleb Kidder, number 37, is having a real breakout season on defense, and Herbert Gamboa is also up there on the first team. He's having a tremendous year, as well."
Another surprise was to find the Grizzlies' leading tackler, Kendrick Van Ackeren on the second team.
"I think that's because of the competition he was up against," Taber said. "Darnel Sankey from Sacramento State is one of the national leaders as an inside linebacker. It's a very tough group, with tough competition in this Big Sky Conference."
