MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Data indicates that professors at Montana State University earn about $19,000 more on average than professors at the University of Montana.
The Missoulian reported Tuesday that data from the Chronicle of Higher Education shows a full professor at the Missoula university made about $82,000 last school year, while a full professor at the Bozeman university earned nearly $101,000 on average.
State Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education representative Tracy Ellig says the salary comparisons are "apples and oranges" without more context.
Missoula College Faculty Association President Cassie Hemphill says employee pay has long been a problem, and the University of Montana seems to invest more in administration.
University of Montana union president Paul Haber says the union plans to discuss the matter with the administration.
