Montana certainly has its share of folks that spend their days helping other Montanans with whatever struggles they might be facing. From helping the hungry and homeless to those dealing with physical or mental illness, these kind-hearted souls make a difference in thousands of Montanans' lives every year.

One of those organizations is getting ready to celebrate an anniversary.

Family Promise of Gallatin Valley will soon be celebrating 17 years of serving the homeless here in the area. The celebration will take place Thursday, October 27th from 5:30-7:00pm at the Family Promise facility, which is located at 1603 Tschache Lane here in Bozeman.

A lot has changed in Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley area since Family Promise was founded back in 2005. We've seen a huge rise (over 600%) in families dealing with homelessness as housing and rental prices have skyrocketed, making it very difficult for many locals to survive in the current economic climate.

The mission of Family Promise is as follows:

"To empower homeless families with children to achieve self-sufficiency through early learning opportunities, partnerships, services, and advocacy. Our commitment remains unwavering as we aim to fulfill our vision of ending family homelessness one family at a time. Within our shelter, prevention, and stabilization programs we offer our services to anyone over the age of 18 who has at least one child in their primary custody. Family Promise serves families of all compositions through the three emergency shelter units, and 10 transitional housing units currently in our operation."

The organization also offers Rising Stars, which is an early learning center, as well as many other programs that revolve around helping families in Gallatin Valley get back on their feet.  If you would like to know more about Family Promise, make sure to check out their website, familypromisegv.org.
