Georgia’s Shorter University Requires Staffers to Pledge They Aren’t Gay

The 200 staffers at Shorter University, a Christian college in Rome, Georgia, are now required to sign a “Personal Lifestyle Statement” that, among other things, forces those employees to say they aren’t gay. Anyone refusing to sign the statement is subject to termination.

SEC Investigating Confrontation Between Georgia, Vanderbilt Coaches [VIDEO]

While the postgame scuffle in the NFL between San Francisco’s Jim Harbaugh and Detroit’s Jim Schwartz captured the headlines, Vanderbilt and Georgia did their part to show that dust-ups between coaches aren’t limited to the pros.

 

The Southeastern Conference is looking into a postgame confrontation on Saturday between Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin and Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.

Georgia Pardons Board Rejects Bid to Halt Execution of Troy Davis

On Wednesday, the Georgia State Board of Pardons rejected a last-minute appeal to halt the execution of Troy Davis, a death row inmate convicted of shooting and killing a police officer in a crime both he and many others say he did not commit.

Although defense attorneys argued that ballistic testing linking Davis to the shooting was flawed and said Davis would take a polygraph test, the board said it would not review its decision to allow the execution by lethal injection, scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday night, to go forward.
