Frenchtown Junior High and High Schools will open on January 4 following the flooding that occurred on Sunday, December 13 when a water main burst and sent thousands of gallons of water rushing down stairways and hallways.
Sometime just after midnight on Sunday, a bolt connecting a water main pipe broke loose, sending thousands of gallons of water cascading down the stairs at Frenchtown High School, drenching floors,two gymnasiums and several classrooms.
A flood warning continues until further notice for the Gallatin River near Logan. Ice jams are to blame for the warning. As of now the river is at 8.8 feet and flood stage is 9 feet. This video demonstrates a "river tsunami" on the Gallatin from earlier this winter.
