Former Grizzly football player Beau Donaldson is currently on parole after spending about a third of his 10 years prison sentence for raping an acquaintance in Missoula.

However, Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst believes he should be sent back to Deer Lodge to finish his term.

“About four years ago Mr. Donaldson was convicted of sexual intercourse without consent,” said Pabst. “He was sentenced by Judge Karen Townsend to 30 years in prison, with 20 years suspended. That translated into a 10 year sentence with 20 years of probation. He served approximately 10 years of that sentence and was then paroled. A parole is essentially an act of grace by the parole board. If the defendant can prove that they’ve been rehabilitated, they can be paroled under very, very strict conditions.”

Pabst said Donaldson was paroled a little over a year ago, but she said she has filed a petition to revoke his parole.

“We are asking the court to impose the entirety of the prison sentence now, because of alleged violations,” she said.

Donaldson’s case was featured prominently in Jon Krakauer’s book ‘Missoula, Rape and the Justice System in a College Town.’

There was no timeline of when Pabst’s request might be acted upon.
