Congressman Greg Gianforte joined the U.S. House of Representatives voting to pass a law that means more money for hard working Montanans. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed on a vote of 227-205. The legislation reforms America’s tax code for the first time in 31 years. It includes tax cuts for low- and middle-income people who need relief the most.

Gianforte spoke on the House floor about his support of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

“The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will increase paychecks for hardworking Montanans, create Montana jobs, and unleash economic growth,” Gianforte said. “The bill will create nearly 2,900 new Montana jobs and will increase income for median Montana households by nearly $2,200.”

“Hardworking Montanans will see a big tax break by cutting their rates and by doubling the standard deduction. Montana families will benefit from an increased child tax credit,” Gianforte said.

“I am proud to vote for tax reform that will create thousands of Montana jobs, ensure hardworking Montanans keep more of what they earn, and help small businesses,”Gianforte said

An analysis from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation says the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will create nearly 2,879 new Montana jobs. They also say it will increase after-tax income by $2,169 for the average Montana household.
