Upcoming Steve Jobs’ Biography May Become a Movie

Sony Pictures is reportedly in talks to acquire the movie rights to Walter Isaacson’s soon-to-be-published biography of Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, who died last week after a long battle with cancer.

The book, titled simply ‘Steve Jobs,’ is slated for release on October 24. It’s the only biography authorized by the late visionary and features interviews with his friends and family, as well as with Jobs himself.

Netflix CEO Apologizes for Rate Increase, Announces Company Will Split Into Two Divisions

In the wake of unpopular rate increases that caused customers to cancel subscriptions in droves and resulted in the company stock nosediving, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings apologized in a blog post on Sunday.

“I messed up,” he said. “I owe everyone an explanation … In hindsight, I slid into arrogance based upon past success.”

Eddie Murphy Named Academy Awards Host

Looks like the rumors were true — actor and comedian Eddie Murphy has been officially tapped to host the 84th annual Academy Awards. Although Murphy has hosted other awards shows, this will be his first gig at the Oscars.

“Eddie is a comedic genius, one of the greatest and most influential live performers ever,” said show co-producer Brett Ratner, who also directed Murphy in the upcoming comedy ‘Tower Heist,’ due for release November 4. “With his love of movies, history of crafting unforgettable characters and his iconic performances — especially on stage — I know he will bring excitement, spontaneity and tremendous heart to the show.”

New ‘West Memphis Three’ Documentary and Feature Film in the Works [VIDEO]

Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley Jr. — who’ve been dubbed the West Memphis Three — were released from prison on Friday after serving 18 years as the result of what many felt was a wrongful 1994 murder conviction.

Their startlingly sudden freedom had an especially profound impact on filmmakers Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky. The pair made two award-winning HBO documentaries about the case, ‘Paradise Lost’ and ‘Paradise Lost 2,’  and are working on a third — with a much happier ending than originally planned.
