Governor Bullock and Montana Department of Commerce Director Meg O’Leary announced on Tuesday a grant of $750,000 to the Town of Manhattan for water system improvements.

“This grant will improve public health and safety in the Manhattan,” said Bullock. “It not only helps address the current water system demands, but also creates construction jobs needed to build a new water storage tank.”

The Town of Manhattan will use its grant, along with other state and federal grants and loans, to construct a new water storage tank and 9,500 feet of transmission main to connect the tank to the existing distribution system.  The project will address inadequate fire flows, low system pressure and lack of fire protection due to these conditions.
