The Westboro Baptist Church is known for picketing the funerals of U.S. soldiers killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, with the message that the deaths are God's way of punishing America for tolerating homosexuality. The Westboro group plans to picket from 2:30 to 3 p.m. at the large metal “Noodle” sculpture near the Strand Union Building on the MSU campus, and then from 3:14 to 3:45 on West Main Street in front of Bozeman High School.

The Greater Gallatin Valley for Equality events will begin several blocks away on the MSU Centennial Mall. From 2 to 3 p.m., DJ Missy O'Malley will provide music, and speakers will include representatives from the American Baptist Church, Gallatin Valley Interfaith Association, Queer Straight Alliance and the Associated Students of MSU. The pro-diversity group will then march to Cooper Park, where an “I Scream for Equality” community ice cream social will be held from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m.
