An explosion during a training exercise Monday Night caused the deaths of seven Marines and injured seven others at the Hawthorne Army Depot outside of Reno, Nevada.

Chris Kyle, a highly decorated Iraq War veteran and one of the most accomplished snipers in American military history, was killed while at a gun range outside Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday. Reports are now surfacing about the man suspected of shooting him, Eddie Ray Routh, a former Marine and also an Iraq vet, whom Kyle, 38, may have been trying to aid in coping with post-traumatic stress disorde

Marines have stood as guards at some of the most hostile places around the world.  There are even stories of Marines guarding the gates of heaven.  A few Marines around the United States have taken on a new guard duty.  They are standing guard at elementry schools.
