A national report ranks Montana 30th in the nation in educating its children.

The report released this past week by Education Week gave Montana an overall "C'' grade — the same as the nation's.

It gave Montana good marks for student achievement and graduation levels but low marks for stagnant test scores, preschool enrollment and unequal state spending.

The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/14GBVFs) that the grade is based on a variety of statistical measures of socioeconomic makeup, achievement and state spending across an individual's life, from birth through adulthood.
