William R. Nooney of Missoula, has received a six-year deferred sentence and must pay his victims more than $335,000 for selling securities in Montana without a license.

Nooney pleaded guilty in April to the offense.  Helena District Court Judge Mike Menahan sentenced Nooney this week.

He will be under the supervision of the Montana Department of Corrections for six years, but was not sentenced to any prison time. He was ordered to pay $335,767.50 in restitution to his victims.

A security is a kind of investment opportunity. With a few limited exceptions, any one in Montana who sells securities must have a state license.
