As reported earlier, Antonin Scalia, the most provocative member of the Supreme Court, has died. He was 79.

Sharla and I send our thoughts and prayers to the entire Scalia family during this time of mourning.  In reflecting on the life of Justice Scalia, I’m appreciative of his service to our nation.

Senator Steve Daines:

Our nation has lost a giant of freedom who leaves behind a legacy of tirelessly defending our Constitution and the principles that make our nation great. Justice Scalia was a man of faith and a brilliant legal mind who dedicated himself to our country with a servant’s heart. Cindy and I are praying for his family and are grateful for his service to our country.

Congressman Ryan Zinke:

I had the privilege of meeting Justice Scalia. His unwavering defense and profound understanding of the Constitution were truly astounding to me. This is a deep and saddening loss for our entire nation. Lola and I extend our condolences and his family will remain in our thought and prayers.

U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was appointed to the court in 1986 by President Ronald Reagan. Scalia was unanimously confirmed by the Senate. He passed away earlier today in Texas at the age of 79.
