The Gallatin County 911 center has been receiving unintentional 911 calls from cell phones. Upon investigation it has been discovered that postings on social media have led to these calls. The postings indicate that if someone wants to make “Siri” mad ask her to dial 112.

112 is the equivalent of 911 in most of Europe and other countries.  911 Director O’Connell reminds the all of us that all 911 calls are taken very seriously.

If dispatchers and first responders are distracted by  non emergency calls it can delay help for those who have true emergencies.  The 911 center is always busy and this time of year it can get especially hectic.

It's sure to make the social media rounds again -- Be advised.
