Marvel stars Chris Pratt and Chris Evans—Seahawks and Patriots fans, respectively—made a bet on Twitter on which of their teams would win the Super Bowl. At stake? The loser would have to visit a local charity dressed as their superhero. The Patriots beat the Seahawks in dramatic fashion, so Pratt, in full Star-Lord costume, lived up to his end of the bargain and visited Christopher's Haven, a home for kids and their families battling cancer in Boston.

Football fans are no doubt excited for the 2015 Super Bowl. Heck, Marvel superheroes Chris Pratt and Chris Evans have a bet riding on it. But, even non-sports fans can find something to enjoy. No, we're not talking about Katy Perry's décolletage, we're talking about the Super Bowl movie trailers that will be airing during the commercial breaks. With the 2015 Super Bowl set to air on NBC this weekend, we thought now would be the perfect time to run through what we know is going to debut during the big game and what surprises could still be in store. A lot of people are going to act like they didn’t see the enormous success of ‘American Sniper’ coming, but the signs were all there. On top of the promising limited release numbers, there was the awards buzz. On top of that, there were the names of director Clint Eastwood and star Bradley Cooper. On top of that, the subject matter of the film is inherently attractive to the same category of moviegoer that makes Christian-themed films into massive hits. ‘American Sniper’ had one doozy of a weekend, but it’s not that surprising.

It’s been one heck of a journey for Richard Linklater and his movie ‘Boyhood.’ Shooting on the film began over a dozen years ago; each and every year since, he and his cast and crew would reunited to add a new chapter to the story of Mason (Ellar Coltrane) and his family. Imagine the kind of dedication and commitment that sort of project takes. I had a hard time focusing for the 30 straight minutes it took to write this blog post.

When the Golden Globes handed out their Best Picture award for the finest musical and/or comedy of 2014, they chose ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel,’ Wes Anderson’s story of legendary concierge Gustave H, at the titular hotel.

The 2015 Golden Globes winners will be revealed during the Tina Fey and Amy Poehler-hosted awards ceremony, broadcast live on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST on NBC. The 2015 Golden Globes winners are considered somewhat of a primer for the upcoming Oscars (both of which feature many of the same big Hollywood names and movies of the past year), but not exactly a perfect predictor either. Many movies and actors have won at the Golden Globes only to not even be nominated at the Oscars. After the jam-packed month of December, with its huge family-friendly blockbusters and awards season Oscar bait, we have arrived in the month of January. Formerly a dumping ground for mediocre films, the month has taken on a new identity in the past few years as a testing ground for unique genre films (think ‘Cloverfield’) and a solid place to release a horror movie, which seems to do quite well right around New Year’s for whatever reason. This year, we have ‘The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death,’ which had a fairly solid opening. Not solid enough to topple the Christmas Week champions, but no one is complaining too much.

January brings all 10 seasons of ‘Friends’ to the streaming service, as well as some old classics and new favorites, and several new seasons of television for you to binge-watch as needed. Ever since the earliest screenings of Christopher Nolan's ‘Interstellar,’ there have been criticisms about the film's sound mix—that the dialogue is difficult to understand at times, often overtaken by the sound effects and score. Audiences and critics alike have pondered whether this was a filmmaking error, or a matter of movie theaters not playing the sound correctly, but now Nolan himself has finally spoken up to clarify that the sound is playing as intended, calling the final product “adventurous and creative.”
