Gallatin Valley residents, your airport is about to expand. Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport Director Brian Sprenger sat down with me last Thursday to let me know:

  • In the fall of 2017 expect groundbreaking and work on another garage
  • A new runway will be up and running within 18 months
  • In the 2020-2021 time frame, look for a few more gates to be added

Sprenger explained earlier in the conversation parking is an issue at peak use time for the airport, the additional runway will be used to separate smaller aircraft from passenger airliners, in part of Gallatin College's Aviation program hosted at the airport and gates are needed to move people at peak times.

The expansion is needed because of the demand upon Montana's busiest airport. Listen in Sprenger's own words:
