Mountain Snow

Meteorologist Corby Dickerson with the National Weather Service office in Missoula said on Tuesday that conditions in the western Montana mountains could worsen to the point that a Winter Storm Watch could be issued for hunters and campers.

So far, the Missoula area has experienced a dry fall, lots of snow over Christmas and into January, and with the advent of February, freezing valley rain and heavy mountain snow.

The National Weather Service is predicting a series of winter weather systems that are headed toward western Montana through the first part of next week. Meteorologist Trent Smith said several small systems will make their way through the area this week, but a much larger system is predicted by the end of the coming weekend...
