I live in Manhattan, just west of Bozeman. I bought a home a few years ago, and at first, I thought I wouldn't like living outside of Bozeman. The commute to work is longer. There's less to do. There's not as many restaurants, and I don't even have a mailbox.

Here's Why You Should Move to a Small Town in Montana

All of those things aside, I've found that there are a lot of advantages to living in a small town. Traffic doesn't ever get bad, and you make friends with the other people living in your community a lot easier. I truly enjoy the slower pace of living in Manhattan. The worst traffic is when drivers have to wait for a train to go by. The busiest intersection is a 4-way stop.

One of the downsides, however, is not having all of the conveniences of a larger city. I have to run all of my errands before I head home. Other than that, I am really happy with my decision to buy a home in a small town. There's always peace and quiet, and the town pretty much goes to sleep at 10:00 p.m. No loud exhaust screaming down residential streets. Just the sound of the neighborhood owl singing his song into the night.
